There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
With three Boiler Room sets under her belt and a wide collective of support from industry experts who boast the talent that comes from this Jamaica-born, Brooklyn-based DJ, there is quite a lot of attention for Shyboi when it comes to her multidisciplinary skills as an artist. With beautiful sustained chords that build into a four-to-the-floor drop, this belter of a mix starts things off for the Boiler Room crowd in New York City with Barbara Tucker’s incredible ‘I Get Lifted (Go To Church Mix)’. In combination with the immersive lighting experience and impressive sub soundsystem, this set has not failed to please as it creates the perfect atmosphere for a rave haven. Whether you vibe out to the tribal drums in Tommy Kid’s ‘Psyqom’, the heart-pumping Da Kicker Strikes Again remix of ‘Housenation’ by Tuneboy, or even the eclectic bass-heavy wildcard thrown into the middle of the mix of Craig David’s popular ‘Fill Me In’, it’s easy to see why Shyboi is a master when it comes to mixing tracks of different genres with the virtuoso technique that comes with years of experience in the game.
Discwoman will be bringing Shyboi and more to Wire, Leeds on Saturday 20th October.
