There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
There’s no messing around with this one: slammed in from nowhere, the mix opener is a jumpy percussive tech house banger that leaves little no doubt as to what’s coming over the next two hours, steered by last year’s house success story, Solardo. Leading a Sola Records takeover of Rinse FM this week, the two purveyors of the naughtier side of tech house didn’t faff around with warm up, instead choosing to dive straight in with the peak time slammers. Wiggle-inducing bass lines, cheeky vocal samples and crisp percussion come as standard, so this Mix Of The Week goes out to anyone with one eye on the dancefloor already this week.
You couldn’t avoid Solardo even if you wanted to, and we know that you don’t. They’ll be appearing at Liverpool’s Arts Club on Saturday 25th November, heading to Stoke for a huge warehouse party alongside Derrick Carter, Steve Lawler and The Move on Saturday 2nd December. Also appearing at Rise Festival in Mont-de-Lans in mid December before returning to the UK for Solardo Sessions at The Warehouse Project.
Looking even further forward, 2018 could well be another big year for the Mancunion duo, who take their Solardo Sessions parties on tour, with Church in Leeds, Motion in Bristol and Oval Space in London all benefitting in February. Hideout Festival at Croatia’s Zrce Beach will also enjoy their services next June.
