Making waves in a vibrant Leeds underground scene, Brotherhood resident Tami has been gaining a reputation as a selector uninhibited by conventional rules, mixing up her sets with visceral tangents and trademark energy. Dealing in everything from disco through to UK bass and unclassifiable oddities, her refreshing approach to DJing has made her a popular entrant into a busy city of dance music, making a real impact with support slots for the likes of Kon, Tama Sumo and Lakuti, as well as involvement in the new party Equaliser, which aims to redress male-domination in the dance music industry. Offering forty minutes of chuggy funk, highlife-inspired percussion tracks, sunshine house and a little disco, Tami’s new mix for Equaliser went straight onto the office playlist when it dropped this week.
Tami will be closing down the night at Wire on Saturday 25th November when Brotherhood brings Aaron L and Chaos In The CBD to Leeds. A big night for Leeds’ party going community, the same date is also playing host to the next Equaliser, where Tami’s partners in crime Luce, Zoya Ahmed and Carlos will be pumping out tunes at Moorside Social Club.
