Mixes Of The Year: 2019

Mixes Of The Year: 2019

We’ve spent all of 2019 listening to some of the sweetest mixes in Ticket Arena office, and having selected some of our top picks throughout the year for our weekly Mix Of The Week feature, we’re boxing off the year with a list of our ultimate favourites.

With some of the best DJs and producers returning to the helm, while some of the freshest talent in selecting and mixing show off their skills, 2019 has been an incomparable year for electronic music, and we’re happy to celebrate that.

Mafalda

“Deeply inspired by bearing witness to DJs spinning the most extraordinary of jazz records, for Mafalda, this encapsulated the very soul of music and the raw art of selecting and mixing has been part of her mission since her move from Lisbon to London. A good job she’s doing of it too, delivering music to suit moods and set tones no matter what the situation.”

“This isn’t for the faint of heart, press play at your own discretion as this speed demon duo lay down some serious fire for NTS Live, including tracks from Calibre, Lenzman, DJ Marky and XRS, D Bridge and more.”

DJ Boring

“DJ Boring has moved away from his typical production sound of Lo-Fi, and headed towards a dance, house vibe. With carefully mastered mixing skills projected fully throughout this mix, DJ Boring moves between a range of beats and basslines which grow heavier towards the end. Key tracks include ‘Naranja Mecanica (Heartthrob Remix)’ by Fizgig and ‘Face to Face (Demon Remix)’ by Daft Punk.”

Charlotte de Witte

“Curating an Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 as part of her residency, expect to hear some stripped, powerful techno, combined with some more emotional and melancholic ambient moments. Opening with ‘Early Morning Waves’ by Fabrizio Lapina, there is many tracks in this mix that promises to get you moving on the dancefloor.”

Mall Grab

“Live from the island of Malta, the Australian superstar wrapped up the first day of Glitch Festival in 2019 to great acclaim, showcasing a wide array of club bangers from the likes of ‘Venezia’ by Venice, Makaja Gonzales’ remix of El Bruko’s ‘Corrupted Drive’ and ‘Altitude Compensation’ by Aly & Fila to Paul Morena’s ‘Hero Goes’.”

Camelphat

“Bringing a fierce tracklist of unmissable club anthems, Liverpool’s incredible music duo chose only the best for this mix, featuring a wide assortment of club favourites.”
