They’re a pretty big deal, aren’t they, those new year’s parties? Bearing the weight of the world’s hopes on its shoulders, the new year enters with the responsibility of setting the tone for the next twelve months, so it needs to do it properly. No cutting corners allowed at times like these; the new year is the time to go all out in celebration, so choosing the perfect night out is a good way to start. Never of more importance than in our fine capital, we wanted to help you decide which of London’s offerings is the right one for you.
The Loading Bay
It doesn’t have to be a party, does it? A few rounds with your friends on your favourite reclaimed refuse based golf range and then home for a quiet one to see in 2018 with your old pal Jools Holland. Sound good? Sounds alright to us. Although, with a 10pm finish on the cards, maybe you should sink a few drinks as you putt and then when the golf is done you could always continue the crazy at one of these cheeky little parties…
Egg London NYE: Pan-Pot, Dense & Pika
Do you want 2018 to tiptoe in or come banging its way through the door like an automatic sledgehammer? If it’s the latter that gets you all hot under the collar then maybe a NYE trip to Egg is a good shout, with Pan-Pot, Dense & Pika and more taking 2017 into dark territory and leaving it there for good.
Printworks New Years Eve
A very first late license for Printworks will be put to good use on New Year’s Eve, with a special guest joining the likes of MK, Lee Foss, Robert Dietz and Secondcity. Expect a substantial crowd to stay till close for this one.
Cafe Mambo Ibiza London NYE
A first ever London New Year’s Eve party for Café Mambo will see those Balearic vibes washing over McQueen in Shoreditch, so any White Isle enthusiasts should know where they’re meant to be this year.
O2 Academy Brixton
If drum and bass is your bag then here’s where you go for your end of year top-up. Hype goes b2b with Hazard, whilst My Nu Leng, Bad Company, Holy Goof and a boat load of others also deal out the high-tempo rattlers. A special ‘dub come save me’ performance from Roots Manuva sounds pretty sweet too…
Krankbrother presents 24 hrs (NYE-NYD)
Hold on there, Krankbrother, where do you think we are? This is London, not Berlin… you can’t do 24 hour parties here. This one time though, it seems we’re making an allowance, and it’s a good thing too, with Fort Romeau, Gerd Janson, Mike Servito and more lending their musical hands.
Hot Creations’ Richy Ahmed lines up alongside CamelPhat and Eli & Fur as well as Lauren Lane, all of whom earned their invite by ingratiating themselves upon one of Ibiza’s best known clubbing brands, ANTS. When it comes to house and techno, few do it bigger or better than ANTS.
Hip-hop vs RnB - New Year’s Eve
Secret East London Location
Much like the name suggests, this one will see residents from Kiss FM, BBC 1Xtra and more spinning a good bit of hip-hop and a helping of RnB.
Hip-Hop vs Dancehall - New Year’s Eve
Secret East London location
A good old fashioned secret party never went amiss did it? With dancehall making a real comeback this year, the music policy for this one looks on point too, with Robbo Ranx, DJ Cable of BBC 1Xtra, Mo Fingaz and Jamie Rodigan on the bill.
The Rampage Sound New Years Eve Rave
7 hours of raving across 4 arenas, with Rampage Sound headlining and UKG legends operating in room 2. Enough excitement for you? It certainly should be.
The New Years Eve House Party London
Saw Swee Hock Centre, London
It's not often you get the wildness of a house party at an event for 1500 people, but that's exactly what this central London fiesta is offering.
Printworks New Year’s Day
London’s game-changing venue returns to its usual daytime slot on NYD, with a barrage of drum and bass filling the space between 1pm and 10pm. Noisia, London Elektricity, Kings Of the Rollers and plenty more would normally be stand out bookings, but on a lineup packed with quality it’s perhaps a b2b between DJ Zinc and Special Request that gets us most excited.
LWE NYD 2018
LWE are behind some of the best nights that London sees, and with Maceo Plex’s Maetrik live show top of the bill it looks like they might have done it again. Nastia, Axel Boman, Alan Fitzpatrick and other big names add extra gloss to the evening’s affairs, and KiNK earns another chance to show why he’s considered one of the best live acts in dance music. Plenty of fun to be had here then…
Krankbrother presents 24 hrs (NYE-NYD)
You thought we were joking, but no: this one really does go for the full 24hours, covering both NYE and NYD. One for the stamina crew, Fort Romeau, Gerd Janson, Krankbrother, Mike Servito, Tom Trago and Tuff City Kids should provide more than enough musical fuel to keep you going, but the rest is down to you.
