It’s spring time, which means there’s not long to go until many of us will be jetting off to the White Isle for anything between a weekend and a whole season of sun, music and dancing. Ahead of May, which is when the majority of brands will be kicking things off with their renowned opening parties, we have been hit with lots of big news, with many stories surrounding some of the biggest clubs and parties on the island.
First of all we have Sankeys, who are attempting to pioneer a new movement this year by opening 3 weeks earlier than all the other clubs on the island. Sankeys boss David Vincent has said there has been “talk of extending the Ibiza season for years”, with no avail, therefore he’s taken the bold step of moving the opening party forward this year to Sunday May the 1st. This isn’t the only big news to be coming out of Sankeys this year, as Josh Butler has taken up a weekly residency at Tribal Sessions, a new party called Dance 88/89 will be taking over Wednesdays, bringing in the likes of DJ Alfredo and Eddie Richards, with Shelter also returning after a years hiatus.
The second nucleus for some of the biggest moves and heartbreaks of the Ibiza season this year is Space Ibiza. As the club prepares to hand over the keys to the Ushuaia group in 2017, Carl Cox has announced that this will be his final season on the White Isle, therefore the big guns have really come out to celebrate the British stalwarts 15 dedicated years to Space and his contribution to the island as a whole. He will stay glued on Tuesdays for 15 weeks, whilst Tale Of Us replace Richie Hawtin’s Enter on Thursdays and Elrow make a welcome return on Saturdays.
Right on the cusp of Ibiza’s coastline, Ibiza Rocks will be keeping their three day clubbing program crisp with Craig David’s TS5, which will feature ever Sunday alongside their Wednesday parties and W.A.R! on Fridays. Whilst you’re on the coast, it would be rude not to hop onto a boat party, of which there are a whole host of throughout the week. Pukka Up sets sail every Tuesday and Friday, Float Your Boat makes port every Sunday, also including entry to Space or Cream Amnesia after you make it back to shore. Finally there are the Lost In Ibiza boat parties, taking full care of your Wednesdays as they also include entrance to Paradise at DC10.
Elsewhere on the island you will still be sure to catch the rest of Ibiza’s most prized party possessions still going strong in their spiritual homes, most notable Circo Loco at DC10 and Music On at Amnesia, which will still be two of the best places to hear quality house and techno. Familiar faces will be popping up in new places, with Maceo Plex’s Mosaic moving to Pacha and you will still be able to catch EDM superstars at Ushuaia. Cocoon Ibiza will also return to Amnesia providing some of the best parties on a Monday night. Their season line up has just been announced, which sees international heavyweights like Ricardo Villalobos, Richie Hawtin and Seth Troxler playing alongside the cream of the Cocoon crop including Papa Sven himself.
