The Rainbow Venues in Birmingham are set to welcome a shed load of great artists to Birmingham’s nightlife this autumn and winter, with some huge parties already booked in and more events still to be announced. Looking to make your decisions a bit easier as you look to find your perfect party, we’ve picked out a few of the ones that we think are worth a visit if you’re in Birmingham over the next few months.
The AMP All Day Raves
Saturday 24 September
Annie Mac’s driving her tour bus into town and it’s full to the brim with big name artists, all tasked with keeping Birmingham entertained during the AMP All Day Rave. A Dusky live set, David Rodigan, Grime MC Novelist and Miss Mac herself might be the biggest draws, but the likes of Kurupt FM, Todd Edwards, PBR Streetgang and Sir Spyro won’t be far behind. Two producers with releases on Jackmaster’s label Numbers are also stepping up, with Doc Daneeka and Adesse Versions sure to satisfy any house heads in attendance. Mella Dee, Charlie Sloth and more will also be working the iPod for this rotund party.
25 Years of DJ Mag - Jamie Jones & The Martinez Brothers
Saturday 8th October
DJ Mag has been going for quarter of a century now, and to celebrate this their events team have kicked themselves into gear to bring some huge names over to party. Birmingham’s fans of the long-running magazine will greet tech-house kings Jamie Jones and The Martinez Brothers for a night of ultra-trendy beats, with Chris Liebing and some local DJs also entering the fray. Liebing can also be caught at Part 1 of the London celebration, with Part 2 ushering in the voice of the Essential Mix, Pete Tong.

Andy C Plus Special Guests : Birmingham
Saturday 8th October
Andy C’s rolling through for a 3 hour set, with Hazard, Dillinja and 1991 in support. The drum and bass guru is a big booking for any bass night, but getting him for a rare extended set makes this one an easy choice as one of our five picks. He’ll be calling on decades of experience as he navigates into the depths of the night.
Blackdot presents Nina Kraviz
Friday 21 October
It’s always a party when Nina’s in town, and this should be no different. The Russian producer and DJ casts a mesmerising spell as she drifts between obscure acid, forgotten jacking house and unheard of techno, so you can expect her to get her own way as she dictates the party at The Rainbow Venues.

Portal A Surrealist Halloween Party - Luciano, Eats Everything, Solardo
Saturday 29th October
Surrealism may have started with Andre Breton, but it’s heading to Britain (see what I did there?) this October as Luciano, Eats Everything and Solardo join Portal for Halloween. That means you’ve got three big names from the tech house sphere playing a party on one of the biggest nights of the year. We’re not sure exactly what’s surreal about that, but it still sounds like a good night out.
Portal: Skream - Open Till Close
Saturday 12th November
Portal return again to allow dubstep pioneer Skream to journey through his musical world from dusk til dawn. Having been one of the original dubstep producers to bring the south-London sound to a wider audience, Skream knows a thing or two about getting people to dance, so this opportunity to see him dictate play for the whole night looks a good’un.
Blackdot presents Used and Abused
Friday 9 December
Loco Dice stars alongside a couple of naughty-looking b2b sets, giving the German the chance to get away and sample the fine winter weather on his December trip to middle England. Originally a spinner of hip-hop, Dice moved into tech house and minimal, making his name through releases on Ovum, Cadenza and Cocoon. Subb-an b2b Adam Shelton and Enzo Siragusa b2b Seb Zito are the other big names on the bill, with Bunny completing the lineup.
