Manchester’s Bowlers Exhibition Centre will be hosting a weekend long Star Wars convention, For The Love Of The Force, this December, ahead of the release of the most recent film in the biggest sci-fi franchise of all time, The Force Awakens - watch the official trailer below.
The journey so far has seen 7 episodes of intergalactic space battles, romance and family fall outs, with the films grossing over $1.9 billion since the first instalment. Why is this? Robots, Ewoks, Spaceship races and so much more have spurred what is the most creative and epic film series of all time, with this convention set to bring that creativeness to a galaxy not so far away, in Manchester.
Throughout the weekend there will be celebrity appearances from several Star Wars actors, with Dave Prowse (Darth Vader), Toby Philpot (Jabba The Hut) and Michael Henbury (Ewok) being just some of the many familiar faces who will be hosting Q&A’s, meeting fans and signing autographs. There will be a live orchestra as well as stalls selling essential Star Wars merchandise that include costumes, props, comic books and other memorabilia.
As well as these great opportunities there will be a full size Scout Walker and X-Wing on show for you, which will be the biggest one of its kind anywhere in Europe. The Jedi training school will give kids the chance to certify as a Jedi after training from Andrew Lawden and other real Jedi Knights.
Reconstructions of several famous Star Wars sets including The Cantina, Jabbas Palace, The Ewok Village, Dagobah System and Tatooine will bring the Star Wars world to your feet and fingertips, with life size models of C-3PO, Darth Vader and The Stormtroopers adding that extra touch.
With all this on offer to every fan, as well as organisers commenting on how the convention will give true fans a chance to meet their heroes in an otherworldly environment, it has to be said that this will be heaven on earth for anyone who has been inspired, touched or simply enjoyed the Star Wars magic.
