Hard Times has been making moves away from their more familiar pastures of Leeds recently to host parties around the UK, with their recent shindig in London seeing them celebrate 20 years of Wobble with Todd Terry. Now, HT takes on Newcastle’s most renowned night club Digital 27th Jun, with two legends in the worlds of house and disco playing back to back to celebrate.
Francois Kevorkian, or Francois K, and Dimitri From Paris, are two of France’s most prized selectors, both of which have been playing internationally for well over 20 years. As an almost lifelong resident of New York and protagonist of world famous institutions like The Paradise Garage and Studio 54, Francois K is considered one of the forefathers of house music. Having played on the NY circuit since his move there in 1975, he has experienced the generation of US clubbing that made the states famous for it. Working as a sound engineer and producer, Francois has also racked up a very impressive back catalogue, having worked with the likes of Loleatta Holloway and Kraftwerk amongst many others.
The second of the guests to play a part in this unique back-to-back performance is Dimitri From Paris, the mind behind the iconic Night At The Playboy Mansion comp series, which are no doubt some of the best compilations in disco music. Although Dimitri was actually born in Istanbul, he has lived the majority of his life in the French capital, where he has honed a craft of disco edits as well as working as a producer with household names like Björk, James Brown and Michael Jackson.
These two dance music legends will be playing a very special back to back performance at Digital in Newcastle on Friday May 27th for Hard Times, joined by a selection of HT residents and other guests in room two.
