Friday 20th January will be another stupendous night for Motion in Bristol, thanks to a well-stocked lineup for Boogie Nights & Odo. Having procured the talents of George FitzGerald, Tom Trago, Jasper James, Dan Shake and more, the Bristolian party starters ought to be delighted with the night that lies ahead.
Berlin-based Brit George FitzGerald has been delivering popular house cuts for a good few years now, rising to a position of great esteem thanks to his clean-cut style and ear for an underground-mainstream confuser. Blurring the lines between underground house and techno and more accessible house by delivering tracks with plenty of hook, FitzGerald has earned himself a large following as both writer and selector, and will get to enjoy a suitably warmed up crowd in Motion thanks to some excellent bookings further down the bill. With Dutch wide-ranger Tom Trago drawing from his mix of techno, house, afrobeat, jazz and hip-hop influences, the party will no doubt be a groovy affair, particularly as Mahogani Music’s Dan Shake is also in attendance. The former Flux resident has blown up over the past year or so, becoming a sensation in dance music circles thanks to his banging sets and funky productions.
Normally, those three would be enough, but on this occasion Motion will also have space for Jasper James, one of the latest stars to come out of the proud Glaswegian dance sphere. A DJ who honed his skills alongside housemate Jackmaster and under the watchful eye of some of Sub Dub’s most important residents, the Scot had a big year in 2016, and will enjoy taking to Motion in 2017 as an expert selector in his own right. A disco set from Moxie and tracks from the Odo residents will complete the night’s action.
