Oval Space will be alive with the sounds of the wide world on August 1st as Just A Little and Tremors host Global Rhythms, bringing none other than Gilles Peterson over to headline proceedings.
Global Rhythms is dedicated to showcasing the vast variety of musical influences, genres and cultures from around the world, with a whole host of DJs and live artists playing from 3pm on August 1st to 6am the next morning. There will be a tasty Caribbean BBQ on the terrace all day, hosted by White Men Can’t Jerk, which will provide you with all the nourishment you need to keep dancing all night long.
Topping the bill at Global Rhythms is Gilles Peterson, one of the most revered selectors there are and one that is home grown right here in the UK. As the host of the weekly BBC Radio 6 Music show Worldwide Sounds and the owner of the seminal Brownswood Sounds music label, Gilles Peterson has an expert ear for great music of all types and sounds.
Also on the bill is one of the most sought after sound systems amongst dub reggae culture, Channel One. As a regular at festivals including Dimensions, Outlook, The Notting Hill Carnival and the iconic Leeds club night SubDub, The Channel One Sound System packs a serious punch and Mikey Dread & Ras Kayleb will be behind the controls showcasing the best in dub, reggae and dancehall.
The young Ninja Tune star Romare will also be appearing as well as Auntie Flo and soulful jazz producer Werkha, who will be performing alongside a full live band. Warren XCLnce, Tudor Lion and Elwood complete the line up.
