Groovefest will be returning to the golden shores of the Dominican Republic this September for the 4th year running, bringing in tow a lineup worthy of the breath-taking surroundings. Fresh off the back of their highly successful Malta debut in April, Groovefest will be moving on from their usual home of Puerta Plata to its new home at the Barcelo Bravo Beach resort from September 4th-11th.
Aside from ensuring an uncompromising all inclusive Caribbean experience is had, Groovefest has once more proved that music policy is right at the top of its priorities, calling upon the talents of some of the world’s most revered selectors to provide the musical element of the 4-day festival experience.
Amongst the first names announced for Groovefest 2016 include the brains behind one of the most distinctive sounding labels in house music, Dirty Bird. The trio of Claude Vonstroke, Justin Martin and J.Phillip are set to showcase their bass laden sounds, something which has been a key feature of Dirty Bird’s dancefloor dominating releases over the course of the last decade. One of Chi Town’s most celebrated sons Derrick Carter will also be honouring Groovefest with his presence. Having proved his worth in the city that crafted a sound which has gone on to influence almost 40 years of house music, it is safe to say Derrick Carter’s credentials don’t need laying out. Further pioneers of electronic sounds in attendance include New York’s finest Kenny Dope and acid originator DJ Pierre.
Providing the sounds of the near future include pop collective Gorgon City and Defected records prize asset Sam Divine. Scouse party starter Yousef will be providing a taste of why his Circus nights have garnered such a glowing reputation throughout the UK via his exploits behind the decks.
With further names set to be announced, what better excuse do you have to lap up a bit of Dominican sun this autumn. Paradise awaits.
