Hard Times were all over the place in 2016, running nights in Birmingham, London, Sheffield, and Newcastle as they brought the likes of Black Coffee, Dimitri From Paris, Jeremy Underground and more to the UK, but now sights are set on returning home to Leeds. Hitting up their sparkling new home at Church, Hard Times have arranged for a big team of house stars to join the party on Saturday 4th February.
Top of the impressive bill is a house legend in the shape of Todd Terry, an affiliate of the label and former bonafide house music legend. A pioneer of both deep and progressive house, Terry was one of the original generation of house producers to take their art to mainstream success, and is still revered today as one of the most influential American DJs around.
You could be forgiven for thinking that Terry alone is enough to pull in a crowd, but Hard Times have decided to push things a bit further by bringing four more star DJs into the game as well. Josh Butler, DJ Deeon, DJ Spen & Karizma will also take to the main room, meaning you’ll struggle to find a more experienced band of selectors anywhere in the country. A pioneer of Chicago house, DJ Deeon has been shaking up dancefloors for over two decades, honing his selections of jacking house and Chicago ghetto music through years of steaming up dancefloors. Baltimoreans DJ Spen and Karizma have followed similar paths, working on writing and playing house anthems for the best part of three decades.
Moving away from USA and back to the UK, Hard Times’ decision to bring in Josh Butler will also go down a treat in Leeds, with the well-travelled northerner returning to his homeland after exporting his funk-laden house sound across the world. With a second room also boasting an array of talented party animals behind the decks, this one will definitely not disappoint.
