Last week it was announced that Britain’s best-loved Ska band Madness would be taking to Clapham Common on Monday August 29th for the first ever House Of Common Festival, which will take place all day long on the capitals most popular park. Madness will be headlining the occasion on the main stage alongside a number of supporting special guests, the first three of which have just been announced.
The first guest to be announced for House Of Common 2016 is Toot & The Maytals, the Jamaican music group who are one of the best-known Ska bands in the world. With a repuataiton for being key figures in Jamaican music, the group’s frontman has been said to have a soulful style similar to that of Otis Reading, with the voices of the three blending together effortlessly. The band released an album of re-mastered hits in 2004, whilst also reaching the number one spot back in the their home of Jamaica. Having not performed live since 2013, Toot & The Maytals will be putting in a very special performance at House Of Common this August.
Also joining them will be two of the most influential British DJs in the world of bass music, Ram Jam’s David Rodigan and Norman Jay MBE, the proprietor of Good Times, the street party that takes place at The Notting Hill Carnival.
