Considering it is only just reaching it's 1st birthday, XOYO has done somewhat of a magic trick to muscle it's way into the competitive, overcrowded and intimidating world of London clubbing.
First up on the Friday, DFA records boss and LCD Soundsystem main main James Murphy takes to the decks, alongside Yuksek and The Mekanism. Having already played at the likes of Melt! Festival (Germany), Wavefront Music Festival (USA), For Festival (Croatia) and a whole host of American club dates – including a special 12 Years Of DFA Records party in conjunction with Red Bull Music Academy that saw a lineup featuring The Juan Maclean, Shit Robot (Live), The Crystal Ark (Live) and loads more – James Murphy is well set for a big performance at XOYO's inaugural birthday bash. Moving on a day and it is the turn of Derrick Carter to bring his disco tinged record box to Shoreditch for part 2 of the celebrations. A true house legend and pioneer, Carter was making waves in Chicago during the '90s with regular DJ slots at Shelter, Foxy's and Smart Bar but is as relevant today as ever. Definitely one who appreciates where house has come from, Carter often travels outside 'standard' club tastes with slices of soul, disco, funk and more and it is one his famed disco sets that he will be bringing to XOYO later this month.
