Believe it or not, DJ Mag has now been running for 25 years, and to celebrate they’ve decided to throw a party at The Rainbow Venues in Birmingham. Calling upon the six safe hands belonging to Jamie Jones & The Martinez Brothers, DJ Mag will be taking over the B’ham venue on October 8th, with Chris Liebing also helping out with selections. DJ Mag continute the birthday milestone at Egg London on 8th and 21st October.
Hot Creations’ creator Jamie Jones is easily one of the biggest draws in house and techno, having played gigs on a body-breakingly packed schedule for several years whilst also overseeing some of the most popular tech-house releases of the last five years. A former winner of the coveted Resident Advisor top 100 DJ poll, Jones is now part of the clubbing aristocracy, and is probably about as big as a DJ can get without completely relinquishing the underground tag.
Jones won’t be the only member of deep house’s higher echelons who’ll be taking over at The Rainbow Venues, as New York duo The Martinez Brothers definitely fit that bill as well. Having been tutored by the mighty Dennis Ferrer, the duo have springboarded off of residencies at DC-10 in Ibiza to become one of the biggest acts around. Also owners of Tuskegee Records alongside Seth Troxler, they’re experts in the techiest house around.
CLR founder, Frankfurt favourite and famous vegan Chris Liebing adds extra weight to the lineup, with Alex Arnout b2b Clive Henry and local lads Lewis Oxley, Bunny and Lopaski completing the list. The show will offer a Midlands alternative to a double dose of parties at London Egg in October, with Chris Liebing and Enrico Sangiuliano taking to the decks on October 8th and Pete Tong leading proceedings on the 21st. All in all, the three fixtures should be a thoroughly suitable way to celebrate a quarter century of DJ Mag.
