The Mint Club will welcome Dutch maestro Joris Voorn for an extended set this month, performing alongside West Yorkshire local Josh Butler who exploded onto the scene last year. The Mint Presents line up also features the very best emerging talent from around Leeds. Taking place on Saturday, November 22nd this will be one of the stand out events of the calendar and definitely one for the clubbing diaries.
Joris Voorn is a Dutch DJ, producer and label owner from Rotterdam, Netherlands. He has a strong affiliation with music having been raised in a very musically orientated family. The Amsterdam local became interested in electronic music around the mid-90s, influenced by artists like Leftfield, The Orb and Orbital. This led to a more focused interest in house and techno, investing in the Roland MC-303 Groovebox he began to experiment with synths and drum loops. Although hailing from Netherlands, his own house-style has been clearly inspired by Detroit Techno. As an international DJ and live performer his musical talent has acquired global appeal. Voorn is also the co-founder of the Amsterdam based labels Rejected and Green with his production partner Edwin Oosterwal. On November 17th, Joris Voorn will release Nobody Knows, his first album in seven years. Check out Ringo from the upcoming album release below.
Josh Butler has gained huge respect after being propelled towards the forefront of the scene in the last year. From the North of England to dance floors everywhere, Josh has become an ambassador to the next generation with his high calibre house sound. The edit of his deep house anthem Got A Feeling by Bontan and Pleasurekraft has been one of the biggest tracks in Ibiza this season. We recently caught up with Josh, who’s currently touring with a string of shows across the UK, check out the interview here.
Farrow is an electronic dance music producer and DJ from Nottingham. He has gained support and airplay from BBC Radio 1 and 1Xtra. Farrow recently signed to Earth Agency alongside Floating Points, Jackmaster and Theo Parrish, as well as gaining support from the highly acclaimed Eton Messy. Announced as the latest Circular resident, the Leeds-based producer has emerged as an exciting talent.
Finally Josh Plews and Aden Konrad, the King Size Recordings residents whose parties at Leeds’ favourite pre party destination Distrikt have not only proved to be popular, but have also brought in established artists such as Yousef and Sam Russo to headline their events. Having warmed up the Paradise stage at Mint Festival in September both are gaining the recognition that they deserve.
