On May 9th, Butter Side Up will be returning once more to the depths of Wire in Leeds, to bring a double whammy of first class house music headliners for your listening pleasure. Following of from their great party with Optimo last month, this time around they will be bringing Underground Quality spearhead Jus-Ed, as well as the multi musically talented madam, Jane Fitz.
Edward McKeithen, better known as DJ and producer Jus-Ed hails from New York and has been involved with music ever since the tender age of 6, when he appeared with his grandparents coast to coast jazz duo Tomi & Eddy. After a short stint at DJing in the 80’s Jus-Ed hung up his headphones, however after a 15 year break he dusted them off once again and since he has played at many of the worlds most prolific clubs and events. Aside from his skills as a selector, Ed is also the owner of one of the most unique and consistently impressive music labels, Underground Quality. As well as a platform for his own music, the label has seen releases from Dana Ruh, Juniper, Apoena and DJ Qu amongst others. Jus-Ed’s own productions have also been seen on labels like Bass Culture and Kontra Musik, remixing the likes of Cassy, Andrade, Mass Prod and Ramon Tapia.
The second headliner of the night takes the form of DJ, producer, promoter and journalist, Jane Fitz. Jane’s pursuit of house music started in the 90’s with her off the cuff underground parties, which took the name ‘Peg’. Visiting various London warehouses, clubs, rooftops and basements and seeing guests like Jimpster, Brawther, Brothers Vibe and Chris Duckenfield, Peg was built on high quality line ups and a welcoming crowd. DJ wise, Jane Fitz has attracted a number of quality brands, having played at Brothers Vibe’s ‘Mixx’ parties and Underground Paris’ ‘My Love Is Underground’ label showcases amongst a host of other appearances including her on going love affair with Freerotation (festival). Jane’s roster of production is not one that exceeds a few releases, however as a DJ they don't come much more accomplished. Having said that, she has a collaboration with Dlay due to be released on Porn Wax any day now, and is definitely one to look out for.
The prospect of these two great artists playing together in the cosy yet provocatively raw confines of Wire is certainly an exciting one. Butter Side Up Tickets can be purchased from Ticket Arena. To purchase Butter Side Up Tickets click here.
