Amongst the award winners were Stormzy, Krept & Konan, FKA Twigs and Drake and throughout the night there were a host of star-studded performances that took place once the rally of music celebrities had passed over the red carpet in Leeds’ city centre.
There were 2 artists who walked away as the most awarded, the first of which was the London based hip-hop duo Krept & Konan, who won the awards for Best Album and Best Hip-Hop Act. Stormzy also walked away with 2 awards, those being the accolades for Best Male Act and Best Grime Act.
Other winners include Ella Eyre, who won Best Female Act, Fuse ODG who pipped the prize for Best African Act and also Skepta, who was awarded Best Song for his hit Shutdown. Section Boyz, Popcaan, Faith Child, Binker & Moses, Drake and CeeLo Green were also winners.
A number of performances that took place throughout the evening caught a lot of attention from the fans, peers and press that were at Leeds’ First Direct Arena on the 4th November. Arguably the most notable was FKA Twigs, who performed her track Two Weeks with a host of scantily clad, raunchy looking dancers and a live band on stage. CeeLo Green’s performance also caught a lot of attention however it had to be cut short on TV screens around the nation.
A flurry of stars that include local singing star Corinne Bailey Rae, Fatman Scoop, Lethal Bizzle and even The Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain attended the party, with a star studded after party also taking place at Aspire after the main show
