Cabinet Records to open new Back To Basics 'Generation X'
| Latest News

A new era for legendary party Back To Basics starts on Saturday 8th April, as a fresh project titled ‘Generation X’ brings Cab Drivers’ Cabinet Records to Leeds for a live set. Taking up their place at Basics’ new home The Chapel, the more intimate space at Church on Woodhouse Lane, Cab Drivers, Brawther and Gas House Kids will be tasked with getting the next generation off to a perfect start.

Specialists in minimal, deep and inventive tech house, Cab Drivers set up Cabinet Records in 1994, using it primarily as a platform to release their own productions. Merging elements of dub techno, microhouse, funk and more, the duo have been crafting jams for each and every moment for over a decade, and have seen a few of their tracks become underground classics thanks to their distinctively weird and spacious approach to the dancefloor.

Such an approach is also favoured by Parisian Brawther, who should be well familiar with Back To Basics as he spent a long time as sparring partner to Basics resident Tristan Da Cunha. Playing under the title of ‘Dungeon Meat’, the pair released records on My Love Is Underground and their own imprint, and Brawther will most likely enjoy returning to his former hometown. The lineup is completed by Generation X residents to be, Gas House Kids.
