Leeds cocktail bar Angelica will be the very first UK venue to host iconic Ibiza brand Café Del Mar, as the party island chill-out bar arrives in Yorkshire for a Sunset Sessions series that launches on Sunday 28th May. Marking the start of the exciting combination with a Balearic Bank Holiday, the party will feature sets from Catching Flies, Synkro, Gelka and Sara Garvey.
Famous for booking superstar DJs and presenting them in front of stunning sunsets, Café Del Mar has been at the epicentre of Ibiza’s clubbing scene since opening up on the shores of the White Isle back in 1980. Now bringing the same soulful sounds to a new location, the café will make itself at home above the Leeds skyline, adding a Spanish flavour to the classy Angelica bar. Booked in for every Sunday between 28th May and August, the parties will run from 2pm until 10pm, and all involved will be delighted that London house maestro Catching Flies has agreed to top the bill on launch day. Supported by the likes of Giles Peterson, Annie Mac, Lauren Laverne, Huw Stephens and more, Catching Flies has been applauded for his bass-heavy but chilled out productions, with luscious melodies and jazz inflections contributing to his music receiving over 30 million online streams. With Catching Flies providing both a live and DJ set, support will come from the painted soundscapes of Synkro and re-edit specialists Gelka, and anyone who has seen either artist perform will understand why both Café Del Mar and Angelica are chomping at the bit to get this one underway.
