It’s not long now until Sven Vath will take his Cocoon party to a new home after 18 years at Amnesia, as this summer marks the move to a freshly refurbished Pacha. Having enjoyed nearly two decades of Monday night parties in Ibiza, the White Isle’s original techno party is moving on to take up its place at arguably one of the biggest clubs in the world, Vath having explained to his fans that “Change is the only constant” on Facebook back in February.
2017 marked 50 years in the business for the Pacha brand, which started in Catalonian beach town Sitges in 1967, and after a move to Ibiza in the 70s it has gone from strength to strength to establish itself as one of the best party spaces on the planet. This winter saw a fresh lick of paint and so much more given to the building, with the refurbishment giving extra reason to Sven Vath to take Cocoon to a new destination after so many years as one of Amnesia’s best known parties. Set to comprise of two Ibiza giants uniting, the new collaboration will excite party travellers the world over, who flock to both institutions year upon year. Described as “metamorphosis multiplied by 2” and a “collision of visions” by the man himself, the new relationship will shake up the island this summer.
Opening on 30th May, Cocoon will now occupy a Wednesday slot, and the Ibiza nightlife calendar will be boosted by Dana Ruh, Dorian Paic and Innervisions heads Ame for the grand unveiling. Running weekly until the closing party on 10th October, there will be a barrage of top tier artists joining Sven and his team, with captivating techno and house grooves powering the usual visual onslaught of gogo dancers, confetti cannons and other entertainment. If you’re only buying one set of Ibiza clubnight tickets this year, Cocoon at Pacha is a hard one to overlook.
