Damian “Junior Gong” Marley - the youngest son of reggae legend Bob Marley - has confirmed he will be bringing the sound of his Jamaican roots to the people of Leeds this June.
With a unique dancehall-meets-hip-hop DJ style, Damian Marley has established a phenomenon legacy for himself in his own right within the music industry since starting at the young age of 13. The reggae superstar has made guest appearances on numerous projects for the likes of Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars, and many more international household artists - in addition to a repertoire of early live performances that saw him support acts from Julian Marley, Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, and Shabba Ranks. With the official release on Island Records of his 2017 album, Stony Hill, Damian collaborated with Stephen Marley on the modern reggae anthem “Medication” - a single that was later remixed in 2018 with the inclusion of contributed parts from Wiz Khalifa and Ty Dolla $ign.
Damian Marley’s music career first catapulted back in 2005 with the release of his commercial breakthrough single titled “Welcome to Jamrock”, which later featured on the Grammy-winning reggae album of the same name that reached the Top Ten in the US Billboard charts, as well as featuring a wide range of artists from Bobby Brown to Bunny Wailer.
The UK summer tour includes a headline show for one night at O2 Academy Leeds on Friday 29th June.
