Dazed have put together a playlist celebrating women who are challenging norms and pushing boundaries in electronic music, with tracks from Jayda G, Stefflon Don, The Black Madonna and other talented artists making for a delightful hour of eclectic listening material.
Promoted alongside the Smirnoff campaign ‘Equalizing Music’, which aims to double the number of female, trans and non-binary headliners in electronic music by 2020, the playlist is a positive demonstration of what we should all already know: that some of the most interesting music around is being made by female and non-binary artists. With emotional piano and house-paced jungle breaks, Octo Octa’s “Move On (Let’s Go)” is one of the standout tracks on the playlist, whilst the haunting vocals and slowly bowed strings of Kelsey Lu’s “Empathy” make for a more chilling listen. Jayda G and The Black Madonna provide two choice cuts, whilst Sevdaliza’s track is another enchanting listen.
