EGG London will be hosting a birthday bash double header, with two huge nights on Friday 5th and Saturday 6th May making it a weekend to remember. With the first night headed up by Erick Morillo for an all night long set and the second calling upon Green Velvet, clearly the team behind the classy London venue are taking the occasion very seriously as they look to celebrate the passing of a milestone.
Two titanic names in house music, Morillo and Green Velvet are both considered among the ranks of America’s biggest dance music exports, and have been actively playing records to huge crowds for years upon years. A Strictly Rhythm favourite, Morillo is a highly decorated selector and a producer with plenty of weight behind his tracks, particularly the 1993 hit “I Like To Move It”. Working under a variety of pseudonyms including the Reel 2 Real alias that produced the aforementioned chart infiltrator, Morillo has found house music to be a profitable journey, but refused to let the allure of mainstream success supercede his desire to make creative and soulful tunes. A party DJ whose love of the music extends beyond the turning on of lights, he’s well-equipped to lead Egg’s birthday plans.
Smoother than even his name suggests, Green Velvet is cut from the same luxurious cloth as Morillo, placing his body on the line in the name of a proper party. Using his Green Velvet title to separate himself from his equally successful Cajmere outfit, Curtis Jones has been making weird-out tech house for 20+ years, so you’re in for a journey through the time and space as he chooses mind-boggling house on the double header’s Saturday night. He’ll be assisted in his duties by a few more still secret guests, not that he’ll particularly need the help...
