Electric Fields Festival will return to Drumlanrig Castle on Friday 1st September, with guests Frightened Rabbit, Dizzee Rascal, The Jesus and Mary Chain and more booked to play across the weekend party in Dumfries and Galloway. Back for a fourth year having opened in 2014, Electric Fields is a breathtaking combination of amazing music and jaw-dropping scenery at its home in Thornhill, Scotland.

Worthy headliners after years of high-quality musical output, indie folk maestros Frightened Rabbit will bring their emotionally charged take on the genre and strong Scottish personalities to a festival that is built for artists who wear their hearts on their sleeves. Modern day poet-philosopher Kate Tempest, atmospheric guitar rock band British Sea Power and the beautifully blunt Arab Strap are other names on the bill that will pull no punches with their emotive performances.

Not far from the big cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow, Drumlanrig Castle is surrounded by stunning woods and rolling fields, making it near enough perfect for a celebration of summer. Natural and green, the festival’s location gives it an immediate upper hand on many of its competitors, offering ample space for exploration to any families wanting a retreat for their children. With wildlife walks, games areas and fair rides it’d be easy to get lost in the plentiful activities on offer, but with Dizzee Rascal and The Jesus and Mary Chain also performing there will be plenty of musical interest as well. Also featuring Scottish icons like Numbers’ head Jackmaster and man of the moment Denis Sulta, the festival boasts an enviable lineup which you’ll need to see in the flesh to fully appreciate.
