On Sunday 16th April Leeds’ longer-term residents will have their memories jogged by one of the city’s noughties clubbing stalwarts, as Federation return for a 15th anniversary celebration. Hitting up The Warehouse on the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, the brand that started in Leeds back in early April 2002 will return to its hometown for a nostalgia fest of impressive magnitude.
Proud of taking high end production to the bare brick Victorian railway arches that Leeds’ most rough-edged venues make their own, Federation brought parades of entertainers, dancers and punters to the city’s less visited underground venues, and soon built up enough momentum that one city alone could not contain the Federation storm. Soon branching out to Manchester, London, Birmingham, Nottingham, Newcastle, Blackpool, Hull, Dublin, Belfast, Gran Canaria and then, as you would expect, Ibiza, Federation quickly became a party sensation, and so it is no wonder that their return to The Warehouse is hotly anticipated. Last there at Halloween, Federation will once again bring resident DJs Tony Walker, Stuart Robinson, Marc Leaf, Christian Appleby and Greg Myers, this time assisted by Pav on percussion and the One Love entertainers.
Fifteen years is a long time for some, but Federation will feel like nothing’s changed at all.
