The inaugural inner city electronic in Leeds will get off to a searing start, with Floating Points, KiNK, Dopplereffekt, Avalon Emerson and plenty more stars of dance music set to play the multi-venue day festival. Hitting up Wire, Church, Sheaf Street, Hope House and seven other important Leeds venues, the festival will land on Saturday 2nd June.
inner city electronic is fuelled by the community spirit that has become prominent in Leeds’ dance music scene, presenting collaboration between many of the city’s staple underground clubs and bars for the first time. Taking on a similar model to Live At Leeds, which presents bands at spaces across the city, inner city electronic will showcase the likes of Mad Professor and Radioactive Man, with diverse sounds from Andrew Weatherall to Peggy Gou, and Leeds legends like Ralph Lawson and Paul Woolford will also be out in full support. Boutique sound systems including the legendary SubDub rig and the immaculate Cosmic Slop will feature, with the fifteen dancefloors ranging from 120 to 1200 in capacity.
Not just a series of parties, though, inner city electronic also seeks to build bridges with talks and classes, with workshops happening in collaboration with MAP Charity and Hope House’s Leeds Producer Forum among others. Classes from world class talents including KiNK and Mark Ital will add an element of education to the day festival, with further announcements regarding DIY workshops and daytime talks also forthcoming.
