Leeds’ Wire has a night of tough electro ahead on Friday 6th October, with Helena Hauff, Mark Turner and Simon Scott bringing a pull no punches mix of techno, acid, Chicago and more to the Call Lane basement. Each able bludgeon a club with hammer blow bass lines and brutal percussion, the three selectors will take the club into seriously dark territory.
Few figures in dance music have been creating more of a buzz than former Golden Pudel resident Helena Hauff over the past few years, with her effortlessly powerful sets careering through 90s breakbeat and growling electro at insane energy levels. Aggressive in her style, the Hamburg based DJ and producer is captivating and inescapable, bringing the industrial sounds of Detroit together with German inspired EBM and new wave oddities. Clattering snares and acid lines will spiral out of control and separate mind from body, leading a body-testing dance as raw as any you’ll encounter. Appealing to some primal instinct, Hauff’s relentless take on underground dance music is visceral, immersive and undeniably emotive.
With support from Subdub and Dimensions Festival icon Simon Scott and Eastern Bloc’s Mark Turner, this Future Daze night has potential to be one of the best that Leeds will see this Autumn, with all three DJs at their best when armed with a powerful system like the Funktion 1 that drives Wire. Prepare for a journey through fierce electrical storms.
