If you think of Edinburgh, the first thing that springs to mind is unlikely to be drum and bass, but High Contrast, Metrik and the Hospitality crew will try to change that on Friday 2nd February. The collective work of promoters Nightvision and Electrikal, the party at Potterow will showcase some of the London DnB label’s finest artists.
High Contrast’s genre-blending approach to drum and bass has proven very popular so far, the artist growing in reputation every year since signing on with Hospital in 2000. A respected live performer and a favourite behind the decks as well, he’ll be headlining in the city that delivered Trainspotting, the sequel to which he masterminded the soundtrack for.
Holding a BBC Radio 1 residency, Metrik is a similarly huge name in DnB circles, whilst Etherwood is considered one of the scene’s brightest prospects following album releases in 2013 and 2015. Backed up by MC Tempza among others, they’ll be bringing extra Irn Bru fizz to a city that likes its music to be effervescent.
