After the announcement of Hull venue Gate No5’s imminent closure, an exciting, intimate music and creative space hidden among an industrial estate, against a backdrop of warehouses and factories - Illicit owner Tom Watkinson decided to take on the reigns of arguably Yorkshire’s best kept secret.
In Tom’s own words, he states that “To see the place closing would be heartbreaking to not just myself but party goers all over - I will admit, it’s a huge financial risk, but a necessary one.”
Illicit, a house and techno event and label, steps in for a mammoth 12 hour party at the venue’s outside terrace on Saturday 7th September. Illicit have held events at various underground venues across the UK, run by Tom himself and Kyle Watkinson, aka Black and Watky.
In their own words, Tom and Kyle mention that their aim and objective with the Illicit brand is to find safe and diverse spaces that are disconnected from the intense pressures of life, enabling a freedom of expression, positivity and inspiration to take form. Long standing residents include Lewis Hawkes, Ben Straw and Jack Batty.
For their terrace party, Illicit invite long term residents and special guests Seb Zito and Rich Nxt (Fuse London).Lineup:
