There have been plenty of strong lineups in the 17 years of EXIT Festival, but few compete with this year’s offering now that Jason Derulo and Róisín Murphy have been added to the already stonking lineup. Joining the main stage on Saturday 8th July, American smooth operator Derulo will be bringing his 11 platinum singles to Petrovaradin Fortress in Serbia, with Roisin Murphy taking up a similar position the next day on a stage that also features Hardwell and Rag’n’Bone Man among others.
One of a select few celebrities who reached fame by singing their own name, Jasooooonnn Deruuuulooooo burst onto the scene in 2010 with his eponymous debut LP, and hasn’t looked back as he grew into one of pop music’s most recognisable crooners. Four albums deep and with plenty of chart topping singles as well, Derulo is a big name for the big occasion, and EXIT is looking like a very big occasion indeed. Irish trip hopper Róisín Murphy may have sold a few less records, but her idiosyncratic approach to music has made her a huge star nonetheless, with a Mercury nomination for 2015 album Hairless Toys among several career highlights that demonstrate what a revered composer, performer and entertainer she is. Murphy was also one half of the popular group Moloko.
The new additions join a lineup that also fits Liam Gallagher, Years & Years, Paul Kalkbrenner and countless other artists into four days of music, with an extra opening party headed up by the killers on Wednesday 5th July.
