Adding his name to the XLR8R Podcast series, Dutch selection maestro Job Jobse offered a step away from the scorched earth policies that many DJs take with such high-profile mixes, dousing a few fiery peaks with softly swept soundscapes and breezy deep house as he demonstrated the lighter segments of his collection. Starting off with mellow sounds from Modaji, I-F, Tiga and Erell Ranson, the mix cruises for the first half an hour or so before a temporary rise in intensity with Objekt’s masterful “Theme From Q”, but finds itself comfortable in more open terrain, with airy synths and rich textures punctuating a cerebral journey through to Jobse’s favourite dance track, the magnificent “Axis of Love”.
Job Jobse plays at Field Day on Saturday 3rd June, the festival taking place at London’s Victoria Park. Featuring a head-spinning lineup of DJs and live performances from Flying Lotus, Run The Jewels and plenty of others, the London favourite will be particularly notable for a London festival exclusive performance from Aphex Twin.
