Back to Basics return for a bank holiday party with Kölsch and Patrick Topping on Sunday 30th April. Resuming their residency at new Leeds venue Church, Dave Beer’s legendary crew of party starters will be resting safe in the knowledge that names like these never fail to draw a crowd.
A relatively short time has seen Patrick Topping rise from a name only known at home in Newcastle to a contender for the biggest house DJ in the UK, with the Hot Creations regular now cemented as one of the most popular tech-house artists anywhere in Europe. Churning out club hits as if the fusing of beats and hooks is second nature, Topping has earned bookings at the most esteemed clubs going, with a residency at DC10 for Paradise supplementing a touring schedule that leaves little free time.
In combination with Topping, Kompakt’s popular Dane Kölsch will project his vibrant musical personality on the Leeds crowd, with selections plucked from his favourite artists’ back catalogues and his own distinctive productions. A techno master craftsman, Kölsch has plenty of tracks to his name, but perhaps none more successful than the emotive piano anthem “Der Alte”, which has been eliciting late morning euphoria since its release way back in the winter of 2011. Expect things to get emotional in the nave this April.
