LCD Soundsystem’s u-turn on retirement has already paid off, with latest album American Dream going straight in at number one in the US charts and reaching number three in the UK. A first studio album since 2010’s This Is Happening, the new album dropped on Friday 1st September.
Featuring the warmly received singles “Tonite”, “Call The Police” and “American Dream”, the fourth LP was always going to be met with keen interest, and favourable reviews have come thick and fast. Disco and art-rock joust playfully, with the band’s signature blend of electro funk and punk tangents as James Murphy’s sharp tongue proves as astute as ever in its movements, offering the controlled emotion and spiralling cynicism that he’s so adept at.
LCD Soundsystem open the new series of The Warehouse Project this weekend, with a pair of sold out shows at Store Street on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th September. A whole season of huge nights will then follow at The Warehouse Project, with two shows each week curated by the likes of Floating Points, Dekmantel, Love International, Paradise and many more.
