Manchester is a city widely renowned for its integral part to play in the electronic music scene, as the house music movement that started in Chicago was brought over to the North of England to a place that not only welcomed it with open arms, but put their own stamp on it. A brand new full length feature film sees those who influenced, worked in and were inspired by the Manchester movement talk in depth about how house shaped the city, woven in between rare archive rave footage. DJs, producers and promoters that saw, heard or dreamed about Manchester’s unparalleled rave culture tell their stories of a scene that started underground and quickly became one of the most famed on an international scale, with the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Carl Craig, Mike Pickering, Todd Terry, Laurent Garnier, Seth Troxler and more feature in the film.
Following on from this Leeds premiere film showing, producer of the film Jamie Nicholson as well as DJ and label owner Ralph Lawson will take questions from their audience, allowing viewers to delve even further into the scene that put Manchester on the map. Continuing the celebration of a city rich with culture and versatile styles, DJs from Leeds’ own Brudenell Groove will be spinning and selecting a soundtrack to a party.
Manchester Keeps On Dancing will be shown at Leeds’ Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall on Wednesday 6th June.
