Hosted in a brand new venue and spanning across an extensive two weekends, Leeds’ Oktoberfest returns, doubling its capacity as well as its duration while bringing the Brits’ favourite parts of German culture to Yorkshire punters. For fans of briens and steins, the event promises German beers and bratwursts, celebrating and giving a nod to the world’s largest bier festival that originates in the European bier capital, Oktoberfest. Tipple will be offered from long time running brewery HofBräu, started in Munich in 1586 by a Bavarian Duke - and it doesn’t get much more Bavarian than that!
The beer bringers will serve the golden drink out of traditional wooden barrels and perform the theatrical and ceremonial tapping known as ‘O’zapft is’, making this an event to remember (or forget, depending on how much bier you consume). Taking place on Globe Street, the new location of South Bank Depot offers a mighty 12,000 capacity space for your Bavarian needs, including performances from a traditional lederhosen donning Oompah band.
