After the sad news that MC Stormin passed away at the end of last month, it has been confirmed that the rapper’s birthday party at Reading’s Sub 89 will go ahead as planned, with all profits going to his family. The party, which features a whole host of stars hand-picked by the late Stormin himself, will take place on Friday 16th March.
Grime MC Stormin was a cherished member of DnB collective SaSaSaS, working alongside other grime artists including fellow members of the N.A.S.T.Y Crew that he founded alongside Kano and Jammer among others, so his death last month sent shockwaves through the scene as it was announced that he had succumbed to skin cancer. Having been diagnosed in 2016 and spoken openly about his battle with the illness, Stormin’s struggle was widely known, but his passing came as a terrible shock after he had only months earlier revealed that he was seemingly now cancer free. Having been excited for a birthday party with the likes of Logan D, TC, Phantasy, Skibadee, Eksman and other grime talents, the organisers and his family have decided that the night should go ahead in his honour, celebrating the life of a lyricist who touched and inspired many.
Rest in peace MC Stormin.
