There’s always something coming out the speakers in the Ticket Arena office, so we thought we’d share some of the sonic splendours that soundtrack all of our hard work. Now a weekly feature that brings a different artist to the fore each Thursday, the TA Mix Of The Week scours the vaults for some of our favourite sets of old and keeps a beady eye out for the classics of the future, serving up a taste of the artists that make us happy to do what we do.
One for bass music fans this week, with Bristol-based duo My Nu Leng taking pride of place as our choice for Mix Of The Week thanks to their BBC Essential Mix from last Friday. Cycling through a myriad of urban sounds across grime, DnB, house and more, the crossover stars showed off a real breadth of influences including Chris Lorenzo, Peverelist, DJ Shadow, Mella Dee, Skepsis and Redlight, as well as a few tracks of their own creation. Never lacking in energy, My Nu Leng are known for being ruthless selectors, and their Essential Mix debut is certainly no different.
The boys from Bristol will be busy in March and April, with shows in Brighton, Newcastle, Malta and London coming up. First up, they’ll head to Concorde 2 on Saturday 11th March, with Boiler Shop on Friday 17th. April will then see them step up first for Annie Mac presents… Lost & Found Festival and then for Playaz’ Easter Thursday show at Electric Brixton. Gazing deeper into the crystal ball, we’ve also got them down for Parklife Festival on Saturday 10th June and Hideout, MADE Festival and Outlook later in the summer.
