Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points has unveiled a new video for a track titled “Silurian Blue”, which will appear on forthcoming release Reflections - Mojave Desert. Filmed in the dusty setting that gave the short film its name, the track finds Shepherd and his bandmates rehearsing in the arid North American landscape, with the spectacular sonic textures of the five piece psych-prog jam mirroring the natural textures that surround them.
Filmed last August, the video grew from a couple of ideas that Floating Points had hoped to develop with a trip to a remote house in the Mojave with his band. Incorporating the resident sounds of the expansive landscape, the group soon found themselves exploring increasingly experimental musical territory, and Reflections - Mojave Desert will document their wondrous journey when it is released by Luaka Bop on Friday 30th June.
Floating Points can be caught at Manchester’s Parklife on Sunday 11th June, as well as at other summer festivals including Farr Festival in Hertfordshire and Dimensions in Croatia. Farr takes place from the 13th-15th July at Bygrave Woods, whilst Dimensions finds its home at Fort Punta Christo between Thursday 31st August and Sunday 3rd September.
