If you haven’t heard of Label Worx it’s only because they do all their work behind the scenes, but make no mistake: the distributors have probably been as integral to underground music in the last decade as any other group, and so they are a fitting partner for UK underground act Tuff London as they collaborate on new night Reclaim the Underground. Taking place at Wire on Saturday 24th June, the house and techno spectacle will see sets from Spektre, Ben Remember, Tuff London, GAWP, Mindek and more, with a return to the fundamentals to mark Label Worx’ 10th birthday in style.
Dealing in primal techno with concrete kicks, ominous sounds and haunting vocals, Spektre earned themselves a reputation as one of the most consistent production groups in the UK, and have been reaping the plaudits across the continent thanks to their relentless, brutalist compositions. Joined by Ben Remember and Tuff London, both signed to Toolroom, Spektre and co will lead a night of dark techno and tech house, with Dirty Bird’s GAWP also joining. Chasing not far behind, Mindek, Layout and SubTone complete the lineup, making this one look like a proper dark hours bonanza at the Leeds basement club.
