Bringing sequencers and synths to Leeds’ Sheaf St venue this June are Lenny and Lawrence Burten - better known by their DJing duo alias Octave One. Famed for bursting onto the Detroit techno scene in the 90s, they quickly become widely renowned for their track ‘Black Water’ which sold over a million copies and is spun to this day by the likes of Jeff Mills, Little Louie Vega, Danny Tenaglia and more. Octave One are so much more than just an electronic collective, the duo have created a set up that mimics an acoustic drum kit, which, combined with their funk grooves, house samples and cutting beats makes for an intriguing sound that deserves to be witnessed in person.
Octave One take to Leeds’ Sheaf St on Friday 22nd June.
