Fresh off the back of a nutty night with Swedish house hero Kornel Kovacs, Ordinary Friends have wasted no time in announcing another cracking booking for The White Hotel, with nd_baumecker next in line. Taking to the Manchester dance spot on Friday 23rd March, the Ostgut Ton regular will show why the title “DJ’s DJ” was written for selectors like him.
The early 90s Frankfurt scene birthed many a techno professor, and Baumecker is one of those who’ve continued to push dance music forward decades after first breaking through onto the busy German circuit. Working his way through jobs at record shops, labels and even Panorama Bar, where he has enjoyed a role as head of programming, nd_baumecker has shown himself to be a fountain of knowledge behind the scenes as well as behind the decks, where his immaculate technique and 20,000 strong record collection have earned him a wildly reverent reputation.
Two albums on Ostgut Ton alongside Sam Barker demonstrate the raw percussive hardware techno that nd_baumecker often lays down in his club sets, though his uplifting sets often weave between various styles and genres as he soundtracks cerebral journeys through the night. Backed by the Ordinary Friends resident party starters, you can bet he’ll be serving up another special set at The White Hotel.
