Pussy Riot are to spend eight weeks being part of an autobiographical and immersive theatre piece. Taking place in November within London’s Saatchi Gallery, the collaboration with theatre production company Les Enfant Terribles will tell the true story of their arrest and time spent inside of Russian jail. Members Nadia and Maria spent two years in prison following a political protest in Moscow’s Cathedral. Entitled “Inside Pussy Riot”, a clever double entendre referencing both their time in prison as well as the interactive details of this project, the theatre piece will depict and involve audiences in the journey faced by the political punks, allowing a unique insight into the lives of the Pussy Riot members.
In a statement, Nadia Tolokonnikova explains the the project further,
“The audience will actually get the chance to re-live each one of these experiences themselves in London, learning what it means to be a political opponent in Russia today. We’ll take you on a journey from the cathedral altar deep into the vaults of the Kremlin itself. Hopefully, this is a journey that you’ll only have to make once in your life.”
Pussy Riot come to the Marble Factory in Bristol on Saturday 18th November.
