EXIT Festival have announced a classy group of artists for the festival’s Dance Arena, with Richie Hawtin leading a lineup that also features Ben Klock, Adam Beyer, Ida Engberg and more. Taking to the extraordinary Petrovaradin Fortress that houses EXIT in Novi Sad, Serbia, the artists will be united in their desire to deal out dark and twisted techno.
A pair of breakthrough artists also command attention on the EXIT bill, both Amelie Lens and Anastasia Kristensen having found their stock rising rapidly over the last twelve months. Tireless in her touring schedule, which is tightly packed in order to satisfy the wealth of international demand, Lens is a growing presence in the European dance music scene, delivering flawless mixes and fearless productions with every effort, a story not dissimilar to Danish-Russian selector Anastasia Kristensen. Backed by local artists, they add extra spice to a lineup that already boasts four techno behemoths in Hawin, Klock and Berlin power couple Beyer and Engberg.
Whilst Hawtin and his Plastikman alias will be well known to most discerning techno fans, he has managed to remain at the top of the game for decades without ever sounding stale, and remains a revered member of techno royalty. Similarly powerful in his ability to maintain interest despite becoming one of the genre’s most recognisable characters, Ben Klock is relentless in his body-breaking sets, and with Engberg and Beyer being a husband and wife pairing who reportedly went straight to Berghain after tying the knot, there’s going to be plenty of that famous Berlin madness in Serbia.
EXIT Festival takes place from Thursday 12th to Sunday 15th July in the famous Petrovaradin Fortress of Novi Sad.
