Another year has passed and so once again, it’s time to recognise those who took over 2019 with their contributions to music, and what a year it was. We’ve already listed our favourite Albums and Mixes of the year, but now an institution with a bit more authority has spoken, as the nominees for this year’s BRIT Awards have been revealed. Along with the freshest of talent debuting and dominating the charts and festival scenes across the globe, there’s also the inclusion of some of the biggest stars in pop, rap, indie, RnB and beyond and whilst we’re celebrating talent, it’s a good time to catch these acts performing live. From headlining festivals to appearing on lineups of some of the coolest events around, 2020 is the year to see some of the hottest artists of the year, and we’re kind enough to let you know where…

Tyler, The Creator
International Male Solo Artist
Following the release of his critically acclaimed record IGOR in 2019, hip hop rapper and producer Tyler, The Creator is widely renowned as one of the most interesting and inventive artists of the genre. With good reason, too, as IGOR seemed to really push the boundaries of not only hip hop, but blends of RnB with his catchy hooks, incomparable beats and witty lyrics. Tyler, The Creator is one of three headliners of this year’s Lovebox Festival. and Primavera Sound

Charli XCX
Female Solo Artist
Over ten years since she burst - or more likely, exploded - onto the scene and Charli XCX’s career has only gone from strength to strength. The past decade has showcased the growth of her as an artist as she’s released incredible dance worthy pop bangers. Charli XCX is playing at this year’s Lovebox Festival as well as Coachella.

Lewis Capaldi
Best New Artist / Male Solo Artist / Album Of The Year / Song Of The Year
From becoming a viral internet sensation to dominating the charts with his consistently quality tracks, Lewis Capaldi sweeps up not one, or two, or three but four BRITs in this year’s edition of the prestigious awards. And deservedly so, as the Scottish prodigy is showing no signs of stopping with appearances all over the festival circuit this summer, including the likes of Isle Of Wight Festival, Sound of the City, TRNSMT Festival and Coachella.

FKA Twigs
Female Solo Artist
After a short hiatus, genre-bending and spellbinding singer FKA Twigs returned with an all-encompassing heartbreak album, Magdalene, and what an album it is. Her ethereal vocals are matched with disjointed beats, ominous discords and the obvious use of raw emotion to complete what can only be described as a masterpiece. FKA Twigs takes on performances at Lovebox Festival and Coachella

Aitch
Best New Artist
At only 20 years old, Aitch is the latest British hip hop export wowing fans with his crafty lyrics told through an incredible, fast-paced flow. Having already showcased his talents supporting the likes of Cadet and the godfather of grime Wiley on their respective UK tours, Annie Mac has invited Aitch to deliver one of his famed sets for an audience at Lost & Found Festival

Lana Del Rey
International Female Solo Artist
The ‘Video Games’ star managed to make every single top album list of 2019 with her latest album ‘Norman F*cking Rockwell’, and if you give the project a listen, you’ll see exactly the reasons why. Her brutally honest lyrics tell the more-than relatable tale of love and consequent heartbreak of falling for the wrong guy, combined with sweet and splendor piano melodies. It’s the perfect soundtrack to drink a large glass of red and perhaps shed a few years to. Lana Del Rey will be performing at this year’s edition of Coachella Festival as well as Primavera Sound.

Sam Fender
Best New Artist
Since being named as BBC’s Sound of 2018, it looks like the only way has been up for indie singer/songwriter Sam Fender by this BRIT nomination. A number one album, sell out tours on an international scale, and all by the tender age of 23 - the only thing wrong with this BRIT nomination is that it wasn’t given sooner. Sam Fender will be performing at this year's TRSNMT Festival.

Billie Eilish
International Female Solo Artist
Unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock, you’ll be familiar with the talents of Billie Eilish, as the ASMR pop star has shot to fame at an alarmingly quick rate. As well as frequent appearances on the airwaves and charts, Eilish has dominated festival stages, with unbelievably huge audiences. The next step is definitely a headline slot, and so Billie will topping the bill of Lollapalooza Paris this summer.

The BRIT Awards will be taking place on Tuesday 18th February.
