Southport Weekender will return to London’s Finsbury Park on Saturday 9th June, giving the capital another taste of one of the UK’s most memorable music festivals. Working off the back of 28 years of indoor festivals, the Southport Weekenders have plenty of experience in running beautiful musical gatherings, and in 2017 decided to take the fun outside with their first event in North London.
Revered by attendees as one of the most musically diverse weekends that the UK has to offer, the Southport Weekender has been a feature in the calendar of dance music heads for well over three decades now, having debuted in 1987 as UpNorth in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Moving from its original home to Blackpool, Morecambe and then Pontins’ Ainsdale Beach resort in Southport, the festival became known for its euphoric mix of everything from Northern soul through to techno, inspiring some of the biggest DJs in house music along the way.
2017’s relocation to the big smoke saw Kerri Chandler, Roger Sanchez, David Morales and plenty more DJing legends at the decks, with live sets from Stacey Pullen, Kenny Larkin and Juan Atkins to name a full. Sure to match the success of this year’s event, Southport Weekender 2018 is going to be another memorable chapter in the party’s illustrious history.
Tickets on sale midday Friday 1st December.
