Ibiza Rocks Hotel have announced Ibiza’s first grime festival, with the multi-stage #MERKY Festival set to take place on Tuesday 11th July. Welcoming J Hus, Mist, Ray BLK, Jaykae, MoStack and more of urban music’s most in-demand artists to the show, #MERKY will see Stormzy take his crown as king of grime with a headline slot at his favourite Ibiza venue.
Stormzy and Ibiza Rocks go back to 2015, when the MC made his Ibiza debut as a support act for Dizzee Rascal, earning himself a headline show that same year. Taking on a monthly residency, Stormzy became one of the UK’s biggest artists in 2016, putting him in the perfect position to head up an event that showcases the finest talents from the London grime scene. Championed by the man himself, both Dave and J Hus have ridden the wave that Stormzy created and shown themselves to be similarly talented with mic in hand, making noise in similar fashion to North Londoner MoStack. All three will appear at the all day party, with BBC Sound of 2017 winner Ray BLK another whose extraordinary talents have been recognised with an invitation to take over one of the sleek Ibiza hotel’s poolside sets. Other names include grime talent spotter Kenny Allstar and the festival’s host, Beat 1 DJ Julie Adenuga.
