Leeds’ Subdub has been delivering the low frequency body shakers for decades, having started up in 1998 when Iration Steppas Sound System linked up with local party starters Simon Scott and Mark Salford to change the face of the city’s clubbing scene. Returning just in time to greet the new intake of students and bestow upon them the sounds of Bandulu, Metalheadz, Dancehall Science and more, Subdub hits the enormous Beaverworks on Saturday 30th September.
Featuring a cast-iron lineup that puts a weighty sound system in each of Beaverworks’ five rooms, the Metalheadz, Bandulu and Subdub collaboration will be a wild one, with unfathomable power packed into the popular warehouse venue. Room 1 sees Iration Steppas and Maasai Warrior Sound System work in tandem with Subdub selectors, with Bandulu teaming up with Sinai Sound System over in Room 2. Room 3 boasts Metalheadz and their history sessions, which have Sweet Potato Sound System for support, whilst Sinai Sound System also lend a hand to Dancehall Science in Room 4. The final room will feature a break from the dancehall, dub, reggae and bass music that Subdub is known for, with Simon Scott’s Exodus focussing on old school vinyl in an 88 acid house to 93 jungle set. All in all, this looks like one of the heaviest nights of the year.
