Australian cult heroes The Avalanches will land in the UK for a show at Bristol’s Motion on Tuesday 20th June, running a night of their signature patchwork hip-hop and electronica at the expansive warehouse space.
Known for a meticulous approach to music consisting of thousands of samples spliced together to make oddbeat jams, the band were off the radar for years following their stunning debut album Since I Left You, following it up a whole sixteen years later with last year’s Wildflower. Making a rare appearance for the live performance at Bristol, they’ll be digging deep into their own back catalogue for a change as they play some of the tracks that have preserved their fervent following throughout years of radio silence.
Those who found their way to The Avalanches fandom will know that the Melbourne group have that extra little something about them, and with 3,500 samples to be found in their debut album, their music is nothing if not textured. Seeing it performed live is an opportunity too good to be missed.
